Esse álbum é um projeto bastante ambicioso do Metheny. Ele saiu da estrutura enxuta da Pat Metheny Band e convidou antigos colaboradores, como o baixista Charlie Haden, par interpretar músicas com influências tão diversas como a indiana, japonêsa, cambojana, argentina e brasileira.
