Robert Calvert - Captain Lockheed and The Starfighters (1974)

Robert Calvert foi um músico, escritor e poeta que colaborou com a Hawkwind. Ele tinha uma certa instabilidade mental que o impediu de ser um membro efetivo da banda. 

Após a turnê Space Ritual ele deixou a banda e lançou dois álbuns em forma de mini óperas-rock. Este é o primeiro deles e trata da história verdadeira do caça Lockheed F-104 Starfighter, apelidado de "Widow Maker" por conta dos inúmeros acidentes. Alternando texto e música, ele é uma mistura da Hawkwind com Monty Python. Aliás, sua banda de apoio é a Hawkwind com Simon King, Lemmy, Nik Turner e Paul Rudolph, mais uma ponta de Dave Brock e vários convidados ilustres.
